Last year they set a target of raising £150,000 for charity.  Representing £1,000 for each year since being established in 1863.Through a variety of events including Golf, Jail Breaks and Moustache growing!

They exceeded their goal and raised a staggering £163,000.

The general public are usually wary of Freemasonry, knowing very little apart from bare knees and peculiar handshakes. The fact is they are magnificent charity fundraisers.   On average each year, ten thousand Essex Freemasons, raise around £1 million, which is  distributed, mostly anonymously, to some 500 different local charities.
